I was looking for a stylish dress watch. My normal taste runs to chunky, solid, dive watches. Being Australian I wanted to have a look at Australian Watch companies. Was not disappointed at all. Found just what I was looking for in the classic range of Haigh and Hastings. Solid, easy to read dial with hints of European styling, paired with a proven Japanese movement and sapphire crystal. Multicultural as the country I love. But tough and dependable as my mates. The screw in crown and water resistance is a huge plus. Most dress watches have 30 to 50 metres, the classic has 200! That's a respectable number in a dive watch! So I wont have to worry if I get caught in a tropical storm on the motorbike. Been there and the relentless water and wind pressure can ruin a fine watch. Having a watch that can handle it and more was a big deal for me.
If the occasion calls for “scrubbing up” and “looking the part” this isn’t a watch that is going to let me down there either. Its got great wrist presence! Bold, but not pretentious. Just enough heft to let you know its there. Overall a watch that will do what you need it to, while looking good. Just what I was after. I've had it for a few weeks now and I'm thrilled with it. If I had to find a fault, the lume on the hands isn’t the brightest, but that is a very small point on a watch that otherwise meets (and in some areas raises) my expectations of what a dress watch should be.
